Movie Score: 5 / five

at first, all the slam losses and the beatdown by venus at wimbledon caused her confidence to take a tumble, gain weight gave her erratic losses. but what ultimately took her out of the game was a career threatening injury unfortunately.

    shame jelena was injured

Jelena was always such a fighter. You can’t ask much more of that. Outmatched, she always gave her best. I admire that.

Either would’ve been better than Safina. Poor girl couldn’t do anything but choke in the finals of majors. She wilted under the pressure to win a major and became another #1 w/o a major championship.

Australia certainly was tacky making bad calls against its own player. Dokic challenged 2 of them. She played well but could have pulled the trigger faster rather than hitting in the middle to rally just move the big oaf around. Shameful Safina went through only to wilt. Dokic deserved to get her last chance at playing Serena. The best don’t always win. Exciting player Dokic.

That means she’s working hard giving 100%.

Not in the final…………………the score was pathetic, the final finished so early! I remember being so disappointed that night.

  • By ziguiti, July 22, 2013 @ 4:32 pm

Safina is weak mentally. Mind the lowest in history

  • By Sam Wilson, July 22, 2013 @ 4:39 pm

    Dokic breathes very heavily

  • By GingerMouseIsBack, July 22, 2013 @ 5:23 pm

Had Dokic won this match, she probably would’ve made it through to the final. I imagine she would’ve given Serena a better run-for-her-money than Safina did.

Dinara, please come back to this form 🙁 glad you won against Stosur yesterday! Go Safina!

  • By StewNWT, July 22, 2013 @ 6:11 pm

considering she would have played Zvonereva in the semi she could easily have made it to the final, would def have done better than safina

  • By IKurtC, July 22, 2013 @ 6:40 pm

i wanted Dokic to win this 🙁 , bloody hell i had to go work that sunday and i was unable to finish watching the match, 2009 was a good comeback for her, too bad she is out of the tournament now

I love how obvious it is that the crowd is 100% behind Dokic.

12:04 I love to watch her unload that backhand. SCHA-WING! Better not be wearing tight jeans or you’re in for some pain, guys.

  • By KFactor93, July 22, 2013 @ 9:31 pm

    Must’ve been an accident. LOL.

  • By andy55055, July 22, 2013 @ 9:37 pm

safina would be half decent if she didn’t double fault on every major point.

  • By JujuFan123, July 22, 2013 @ 10:11 pm

Wow, Dokic completely fell of the radar after this. What a shame, really. She should have used this performance at the Australian Open as an encouraging performance, and built on it. Look where she is now; playing in the ITF, barely winning anything. It’s sad because she’s a much better player than that.
